Ink saving with inkjet printers
Many inkjet printers will start an intensive cleaning phase
when connected to the mains. This will waste a lot of ink every
time. The cost per power connection could reach 45 cent. (c't magazine
8/2002, S. 218 ff.).
If the power of the PC and all peripherals are turned on using a
multiple socket outlet and the connected inkjet printer is not needed
every day, it could be separated by an USB-Switch. Only when the
printer is needed, the power is turned on. A small application just
to turn the switch on is enclosed in the delivery of the USB-Switch.
